The Rutland Area NAACP is still active in this time of social distancing, quarantine, and medical crisis. We will be cancelling all in-person meetings, moving them to Zoom as appropriate and rescheduling what can’t be done online (like our beloved Soul Food Sundays).
We encourage all Rutland County residents to visit rutlandmutalaid.com to sign up you are able to volunteer in any capacity — to help deliver groceries, sew masks, translate, or one of the other opportunities — and to access a comprehensive and regularly-updated list of local resources.
This is a time when we must support each other as best we can, both by staying home when possible and by showing up when necessary. Keep an eye out for increased racial aggression, especially towards people of Asian descent, and get in touch if you witness or are subjected to an incident of bias or discrimination.
We are also watching out for legislation that takes advantage of chaos and fear to roll back protections for marginalized or vulnerable populations and the environment.
Stay home, wash your hands, and reach out if you need our help.
