A month ago, Davona Williams was abducted by ICE in Manchester, VT, separating her from her three children. She has since been moved to a prison in Detroit, MI, where this morning she had a virtual hearing; we asked our community to log into this hearing to show the judge that she is valued and missed. We are so deeply thankful for the incredible outpouring of community love and support. Today, after overwhelming solidarity shown by so many, the judge granted a bond for Davona’s release.
Even though we couldn’t all be present in the virtual courtroom, the judge clearly noticed the overwhelming support behind Davona, and we know this made a real difference in the decision.
The funds donated so far have been a lifeline. They have gone directly to supporting Davona’s children and covering life responsibilities while she has been detained – including gas, food, and helping parents who lost income because of missed work. Every single contribution has mattered, and we cannot thank you enough.
Now, as we move into the next chapter, we are reopening this fundraiser to support the transition ahead. This includes covering the $7,500 bond and helping with the costs of getting her back home to her children and community.
Your continued support means more than words can express. Together, we are ensuring that Davona and her family are not alone in this fight.
Thank you for standing with us.
